Hi Dan -

1. Beautiful Dolphin. For some reason, this has always been one of my favorite WWI aircraft.

2. You MUST do the Balilla with the Lion of St Mark banner on the side of the fuselage. Please.

Don

I second that! Probably the most elaborate decoration ever put on a warplane.

Thanks to everybody. Wow! What a reaction! I agree with Don and Elliot and Rata...Both it is. Why not? When I mess up on one, I can do better on the other.

Tonight it's been all hands on battle stations for the outlaw's arrival tomorrow. But I still want to get some stuff done tonight. We'll see...

Oh! My wife is calling. Must dash...

Shhhhhh! I got a bit done...

Well, I cut out the parts that need thickening, glued them to 1/32nd balsa and started the rudders on each machine. I cut out the cores, the skins and embossed some ribbing on each. Test fit looks AOK.

We'll see if I get to even touch these for a week...here's hoping!

Cheers to all,
Dan

Don,

Two specimens of A1 Balilla, destined for the aces Natale Palli and Antonio Locatelli, were decorated directly by Ansaldo with the emblem of Genoa-
The emblem depicts Saint George while killing the dragon.

Both planes survived the Great War.
The sn.16553 of Locatelli has been restored and exhibited in Turin.
The sn.16552 of Palli is being restored in Trento at the Caproni Museum.

Regards, matt77

The artwork of the original planes are amazing, but... YOUR artwork, Matt, is absolutely stunning! Congrats for this and I'm here, watching this building...

All...here's a bit more. Got the tails done. The balsa inserts work well. I soften the edges with a bit of sanding and don't actually glue them in. They "float" and only the paper edges are glued. Seems to stop my dreaded "ridges" I usually see with this construction technique. Likely due to not adding so much darn glue!

Coming along nicely. Both look pretty darn good. As this is my first model from a real "kit", I can also see that my paper is a bit stiff. WAK's paper is thicker than typing paper, but folds nicer than my armor plate.

More soon...maybe!

Matt - Thank you very much for explaining the artwork. I'm sorry that I confused the iconography and am glad to have the correct information.

Dan - Your usual outstanding work on this good-looking airplane.

It is probably me, but the name of the aircraft sounds like a pasta company or dish
