Excellent detail Dan.
Nice to see the ailerons slightly askew- and deflected OPPOSITE to each other. I can't believe the number of builders who seem to be unaware of how ailerons (NOT flaperons) actually move. (Just fell off my soapbox again - dang!)

Thanks, Folks. Yeah...it's good to know how the controls work. I've set up my RC ailerons backwards only once...and the Se5 was a pile of match sticks!

I started the fuselage by getting the skeletons started and then began the interior on the Polish machine. You can see the parts are all cut out and then slot together. The interior is just folded and fits between some formers and I folded and added machine gun breaches. I'll see if I can start skinning this one a bit tonight. On to the shots!

I still need to add some belts and the control stick. But coming along nicely!

Looking pretty cool...Dan

I worked on the Polish top wing tonight. I have it basically done except for the tips. It has a large "box spar" that I inserted some 1/16th balsa into for a bit of strength. Then the pre-shaped skins were tweaked and pre-formed and folded around the spar. Seems to look ok. I'll work on the tips tomorrow.

Once the tips are tamed, I'll also work on the Italian wings tomorrow! Thanks for looking,
Dan

Michael...

We can counter sue since I'm about to use your tissue stuffing idea to get some wonky edges out of the Balilla fuselage sides! More later tonight.

You know...the balsa also isn't nearly as hard on the #11s. Plus, I'm just more comfortable with good ol' balsa!

Cheers,Dan

Things have really gone well so far but...the turtle decking and front section turned out to be a real bear on this one. Not sure if I just wasn't accurate in cutting or the formers are off but not much really fit. I've seen other builds here and elsewhere (Deckape's for example) and they all had no problems so this must be on me. Maybe the Italian job will go a bit smoother! I did cobble it together and the nose radiator fit well sooooo...we're just going with it! I also added inspection panels on the fuselage and the cockpit edging. Getting close to adding the tails and lower wings now.

We'll see how much more I get done tomorrow...Cheers and thanks for looking!

Dan

All,

Tonight I added the tails, rigged them and got the ventral tank in place under the center section. I think it's a tank, but I'm not too sure. Anyway...I wasn't sure how the stab went on and looking at the real plane, it seems part of the decking is cut so that's what I did. This isn't clear on the model or the "plans" for the model. My fix looks ok when done.

And here's that tank. It went on really nicely and included some straps too.

And one last one.

Just noticed I also added the gun housings on either side as well!

Next are some engine exhausts and then the fuselage will be done after some more seam treatment on that turtle decking. Then, on to the lower wings. Going apace now!

Cheers,
Dan

Taking shape Dan. That unusual rear fuselage taper is well duplicated on your model.
