Dan,
you had my same problems ...

In my opinion, some elements of the internal structure are imperfect:
C is too tight,
H is too wide
and G has the wrong upper curvature.

WAK Ansaldo A.1 Balilla (1/33rd)-img_20180703_100822.jpgWAK Ansaldo A.1 Balilla (1/33rd)-img_20180703_101024.jpg

I will try to correct them before rebuilding the model.

Also,
I never liked the machine gun hood.
It would be nice to think of something more integrated with the engine cowling.

This my solution is very improvised.

I tried to draw a new engine cowling, it seems more realistic, but I think it's difficult to make it in paper,

Thanks, Folks...

I do love this plane and the recolor is pretty amazing.

Matt77: I'm glad I'm not the only one. I too think things are not quite right. I ended up cutting the skins in several places and I got an acceptable finish but still not perfect. Like I said, it helped to build the WAK kit version first and so yours is coming together a bit neater. Just takes care and fiddling.

I think your cowling fix looks possible but it may require several pieces of paper. I like your quick and dirty fix, though! Your model cowl looks more realistic than mine (guns etc.).

Cheers and I hope to have your creation done soon. I may do your recolor of Marek's Albatros or your Nieuport next...

Cheers,

Dan

A tiny update tonight...

Not much to report but I got the bottom wings blocked in, the cowling and the gun covers added and fin reinforcement in too. A good place to stop for the night.

More tomorrow as it's July 4th over here and a holiday from work!!! This means BBQs, motorcycles, hikes and models!!!!

I read my Profile Pubs on the Ansaldo. A very unrecognized design and fighter / recon bird.

Those Italian SVA's are flying renaissance art works. Imagine some 'erk' trying to patch bullet holes in that.....
