Fuselage construction

Ahoy Paperwrights

Here is another build update the build is building itself. I am having so much fun with this kit I cant leave my hands off the build. Parts like the engine and landing gear will take time so that will be done at the end of the construction. Thus far had a couple fit issues with the skins the skins were a tad oversize, So I had to trim the skins to fit the formers Now I know why some of these kits don't have joining tabs at their ends so it leaves margin of error. when the glue dried I burnished over the entire fuselage to smooth out the formers a lot easier with this kit then the F5,everything is smoothed out gave it 3 coats of Krylon clear letting it dry between coats Got over zealous added the Fin only glued to the port side tomorrow I will wrap it up. Tomorrow before I proceed I will place a paper towel over the fuselage and give it the final burnishing and add three more coats of Krylon clear to seal the deal. In overview a great kit popular among a lot of here on the forum I always loved the Flying Beer Barrel she was the last of the Navy shipboard fighters of the bygone age of Navy aviation. Here below are the pictures for today. time to hit the fart sack

Tail feathers

Ahoy Paper Wrights
Happy Memorial Day to all, update build report for today more coming stay posted. at this stage of construction the tail feathers are added. I wrapped the fin and finished its installation the stabilizers are next. wit the spar in place previously now its tim for the assembly first I added a filler in back of the stabilizers to keep them from riding up and curling and it gives it strength as well. both assemblies are added and finished next I will add the two supports on top of the stabilizers. The bottom wings will follow up next along with their fillets. The kit goes together very well the fit of parts are good

Bottom wings and fillets

Ahoy
Update for today looking like the beginnings of the F3F starting with the bottom wings they were cut out from the sheet Before assembly I turned over the wing with printed side down using a straight edge follow the printed ribs on the wings using a ink pin score the ribs they will pop out when done more 3D then just printed got the idea from those old Guillow balsa kits with card stock a great idea with biplanes in general. after the wings were assembled they were joined to the fuselage sides. Lastly the Fillets to seal the deal. now letting the entire unit dry when dry go back and do some more burnishing. Lolllllllllllllll The kit reminds me of the old Monogram 1/32 scale F3F along with their Grumman GulkHawk. Here are the pix today no fit issues the wings went together like a charm no warping

Thanks a lot DA. Roman V (der Kampfflieger) has the barrel engined version over on ecards so I guess this will get added on to my 3 mile long build list.

You are doing a great job. Have your lawyer call my lawyer because I AM stealing your embossed ribs idea.
