Top wing construction

Ahoy Paper Wrights

Another update for today. she is on her way now got her top wing done ready for mounting letting dry over night and burnish. The top wing was constructed similar to the bottom wing assembly. adding fillers and spars does the trick a straight wing. While the top wing is drying I will go to other assemblies then it will be ready for the installation. A good kit miles better then the F5. fit of parts are excellent. here is the update report for today.

The Grumman F3F-2 is a classic aircraft that I think is beautiful. Be it a bi-place or the way the landing gear hugs the fuselage or the coloring of the plane over all, not sure what it is about this air craft but it is pure beaut. Thank you for sharing. Your doing a great job. A model you can be proud of when complete. wc

We are lucky to have a number of yellow wing pre-war USN aircraft recently built or under construction in the Forum just now.

Top wing construction assembly

Ahoy Paper Wrights
Thank you fellas for your comments I am honored. Okay she is now a F3F-1 she can fly now she has her wings, top wing construction was very diofficult to achieve not only because of the large scale but to make certain the top and bottom wings are symetyric or just a like, The Cabane and inter plane struts are re enforced this is important without this the wing assembly will be useless. The interplane struts are a little on the thin side but it don't distract the scale difference of the build. downhill stretch from here on I also applied the cockpit assembly less joy stick but I will get to that as well. tonite after the wing sets I will add the rigging and the landing gear will follow. Here are the pictures for today.

Rigging Caopy And Cowel Bumps

Ahoy
Here is a update should have another later on today starting on the rigging got the canopy on. Using packing tape method this method works well with these type of aircraft when it comes to jets your better off vacu forming your own or buy one. got a few of the tappet fairings on the cowl they go without fuss. Here a couple pictures of progress. Thanks Rata for chiming in my man.
