DeHavilland D.H.84 Dragon Pilsworth in 1/100
With passenger capacity of 6 plus the pilot, the D.H.84 Dragon was designed in 1932 after a request from Hillman Airways for it's England-Paris service. British production totalled 115 units plus a further 87 were produced during WWII at the DeHavilland Australia factory at Bankstown (in Sydney) as navigation trainers for the RAAF.
I didn't know till I actually downloaded this model (free in the downloads section on this site) that this particular Pilsworth is actually VH-UXG 'Riama' which was a beautifully restored Dragon that was very active on the display/airshow circuit here in Oz. I say 'was' because this rare and beautiful gem was horribly and tragically lost when it crashed in October 2012 after flying into unexpected low cloud on a return flight from an air display, killing all six occupants. The accident pilot (and owner) of 'Riama' was one Des Porter, who at the age of 11 survived a crash of another Dragon in 1954 which killed his father and older brother! 'Riama' struck high ground near Lake Borumba (Qld), only a couple of klicks from where I used to live. I reduced Gary's 1/48 model down to 1/100 and I think this is now officially my favorite model to date. The only other mods I did was a shaped paper-clip spar for the upper wing dihedral and thin wire for the aileron link struts. One mistake- built a bit of an annoying 'twist' into the rear fuselage which I decided is not all that noticeable so I can live with it. Hope ya'all like 'Riama'.

Your another neat model! Great job.
So, what's next? Something civilian or military? I guess it will be an aircraft for sure.

Wow, you even did the wires! I still haven't found out how to do that properly. It looks amazing. You really made a very nice model, Rata!
