Monosyllable... Why multiple syllables to describe one syllable?

Capt Kirk would be proud; we have just gone where no man has gone before. I am so confused, I'm not even sure that I'm posting in the right thread.

Yes. Yes, you are posting in the correct thread

Maybe I should have expressed that in binary

If you're English, you should understand it completely.
Comes from the old nautical saying "blow me down".
Means being astounded or surprised by something.
"Well blow me down..."

But even at 70, my Father used the phrase all the time...
and this is in Canada and the US, where the phrase isn't nearly as common.

"blow me, if I couldn't find a parking space!"...
"blow me, isn't that nice!"
"blow me, I need to find a bathroom."

and you could spot the heads turning every where he went.
LOL

...
I'd suggest moving this thread to the Off-Topic area.
How the heck did you end up in the Aviation Model build section?! lol

Now that is classic!!!!!

Considering how much can go wrong when using language I am always surprised how little actually does :-)

Just check the etymology of commonly used words like snafu in very formal media, like NPR (National Public Radio)????
This aviation forum has been great for me: planes; weapon systems; all kinds of sizes from 1/33 to 1/300, and occasionally larger or smaller; recoloring; designing; and now language!!!

"I'm offended" is one of those PC fascist mind control tricks - best response is "I'm glad I was successful - might force you to think" or the best yet although it takes a bit of judgement (can you beat them over the first 50 metres)...

"Offended - thank goodness - I had thought from your expression you'd suffered an unfortunate bowel motion in your underwear - I was bracing myself for the smell to arrive"
