Fg pt-17
Because of some physical problems, it's been quite a while since I've been able to post a build. This build took me quite a long time, but I think it turned out pretty well. Its of a PT-17, used as a Navy Trainer between the wars. At the time, yellow was the Navy's color of choice.
Hope you like it. Garland |

I sure like it but I'm biased for sure How did you make the tires look rounded?

Thanks for your comments, gentlemen. Glen, the tires are made from sandwiched tissue box cardboard. I printed the model on 110 lb. card stock, and cut out all the parts. The tires that came with it I used as a template, and traced around the cardboard five times for each tire, which was needed for the tire thickness. I checked it with the provided tread.
At that point, I glued each of the tires so that I had a cardboard disc of approximately the correct width. I used CA glue around the tread to harden the cardboard. When each was dry, I used a Dremel tool sanding disc around the tread carefully, to make them as round as I could. Once the tires were round, I took an emery board and sanded the edges to make the tread narrow enough to fit the printed tread. They I glued the printed tires to the cardboard and burnished them so as to give the illusion of balloon tires. I've used the same technique on most of the paper aircraft I've built over the years. Cheers, Garland |

I had the good fortune to catch a hop in one of these some years ago at Geneseo, NY. Don |

Astonishing work on this classic aircraft! Extremely clean and precise. Congratulations!
It's also my favorite biplane, along with the Mitsubishi F1M "Pete".
