Is there a web site to order these new Geli models?

Hi Kurt,

I have my construction report for the SR-71 in the GELI forum.
As you have built the first parts it will be perfect GELI model.

Greetings from Austria,
Seppi

Thank you, Everyone!

And yes, I did order the kit straight from Geli (along with that Falcon 20). It took only a few days before I received the kits here in the US - fantastic service!

Seppi, Thank you for showing the construction report. Your model looks great, and those photos give will give me a much better idea of how things go together. (I plan on doing the landing gear for mine, by the way).

Best regards,
Kurt

I'm looking forward to watching this one come together, I've always been fond of this plane, it was one of the first plastic kits I built back in my younger days and I had the pleasure of finally seeing one up close during a recent trip to the Intrepid Museum in New York.

Off to a good start, it's a nice looking kit.

Thanks for that link, Seppi/Josef. Besides yours, there are many excellent threads that I just started reading there (all praise to Google Chrome translate feature!!). Your builds of Yoav's Phantom and Mirage are just plain magnificent!!

For building the kit with landing gear extended, the main landing gear wells need to be glued into place before attaching the lower fuselage panel (11) to the rest of the model. I decided to attach the glue tab along the aft edge of the skin panel prior to cutting out the openings (My thinking is that the tab will help to strengthen the very thin strip that is left along the aft edge). Also, I attached the bulkhead to the upper skin panel prior to gluing the skin to the rest of the model, just as I did on the previous fuselage section.

The wheelwell assembly includes the landing gear doors. It takes a little while to cut out and glue the parts, but they are not difficult to put together.

This kit has come to a sad end. I mixed up forward and aft on the next two large fuselage skins, Parts 11 and 14. Though I could fix the top panel (tearing off the connecting strip and bulkhead), the bottom had the wheelwells and they are specifically "left" and "right" sides. On mine, they are backwards.

The top panel looks bad from removing the connecting strip, and I know the bottom will look terrible when I tear off the wheelwells and connecting tab, so this project is ended.

Best regards,
Kurt
