Bruno's concorde: thank you!

A quick thank you to Bruno for his Concorde.

I wanted a fun and quick way to start to get a feel for how your kits go together. My first effort is your Concorde in the Air France livery.

I selected the kit because because I built the 1:144 Ralph Currell/Erik the Groen Concorde, and have a reasonable understanding of what goes where in terms of the parts and assembly.

Given the choice between standard office 20 pound copy paper, and 67 pound stock, I opted to use the thicker stock thinking that the 20 pound would be too thin.

I would say that while I was able to putting this together in 67#, that weight was really was total overkill and actually complicated the build. I may try a go at this in 20# for comparison. My joins are rough and my use of glue was excessive.

I was a little bit confused, in construction: on the wings, do the tabs along the rear edge of the lower wing parts get scored and folded toward the inside of the wing? And than make regular cuts along the front edge of the lower wing, and fold them to the inside as well? Is this to add more "structure" to the wing?

The next time, I would remove tabs and do my own to smooth the body out. I would also focus more on getting the characteristic “droop” in the wings.

Thank you for quick and fun project! I look forward to the next go at it.

Eric

Despite your reservations, that is a fine result.

I think you did a good job, neat, clean & no visible glue marks. Nicely done!

No matter what you say, I think it looks great.
I can see where 20 pound paper might have been easier. The way I look at it, it came out great and you can just build another with the thinner paper. I’m sure that one will be even better.
