Got to love those colorful 30’s I’m trying to work out some major kinks in an old kit the Modelik Duck, yellow wings sound good...I hope no one tried to build this one the way it was before, ugh

glen, good luck with that kit. Goldenbear built this years ago and made the comment that the kit consisted of a bunch of suggested parts to scratch built a duck.

I have a good friend who graduated from USAFA in 1966. He has told me the "war stories" from his instructor pilots in flight school about the engine failures on those early birds. Can't remember exactly the percentage he quoted of the numbers of those early Centurys that just stopped flyin' on a whim but it was pretty darn high.

it's not like the early f-16s weren't given the knick name lawn darts.

My cousin's uncle's sister has a friend who said the Century Series were the front line fighters of the fifties and sixties (Capt Obvious confirms that). She also said that the J-57, J-75, and J-79 were reliable engines (again, Captain Obvious agrees). The Century series had challenges with aerodynamics ... like the T-tailed F-104 and F-101 inertia coupling, the F-102 and F-106 high drag delta wings, the F-105 tiny wings, and the F-110 adverse yaw, but the engines were good ... in their prime. It's all relative. Back to paper modeling now for me. Gene K |

Oops, I started a war here.
and on top of that we are all hijacking this thread over a slogan. Sorry for that. B-man |

Meh. Don't sweat it B-man. I'm a slow builder so any posts that keep the thread active between builds is ok by me.
