Yes indeed, nothing can replace the smell of lacquer dope. Built several of the old guillow and comet planes, and a multitude of estes rockets back in the day.

Tonight's update. Thanks to a great friend from here on the forum I made some real progress today. I finally overcame my trepidation and glued the side fuselage pieces on. There is still some touch up required but I am now very confident in the rest of this build.

To me this has been almost like building the real thing. The designer did a great job on the fit. Any problems are self inflicted. The only complaint I have is that there are SO many pieces. It is hard to find where the parts go but as in any complicated assembly the more you get done the less pieces there are to find.

ps. And now the fR^%&#in' things all uploaded first time right side up!

Looking good, Michael!! Your work on the cockpit is particularly impressive.

It may not be possible at this point since you used white glue to "fill the seams", but on the next go, you may want to moisten the seams (very lightly), and use a spoon (or similar) to burnish the seams.

Great, this is perfect, well done! The photos look good, you've found the trick so they do not turn?

No idea. I took them the same way I always have and they uploaded fine. No idea.

Just because you're doing a damn fine job on this don't go getting any ideas about defecting mate.
That black sedan parked out front for the last few days? That's the 1/100 Intervention Team. Don't say you weren't warned.

Well, I've hired a 1/33 MichaelS Body Guard Team, and they're three times the size of your 1/100 physically challenged team.

Michael has a need for detail (he's considering turnbuckles for this build!!), so this 1:33 build is perfect for him, I think.
