Zeros! S&P 1/100 zero series pt 1

The Mitsubishi A6M series is about iconic as it gets when referencing the pacific war. Nimble ,fast, great rate of climb and deadly in the hands of the early war experienced pilots. It had its detractors, light= poorly armored, no self sealing fuel tanks in the early war, and the need to be handled by expert pilots.
This early A6M2 was the first standardized production model. I repainted Bruno's stock A6M2 to carrier soryu colors. I read an article on the internet about pearl harbor zero colors. these sources claim the gray used at the pearl harbor raid were a sort of caramel brown and not the green gray or light gray often portrayed. the base color was probably a light gray but a protective lacquer was thought to give it this brownish color. much like the interior wheel wells. they were usually bare metal were painted with the aqua green liqueur that give that neat color...

Neat Zeke CMDRTED!
Was recently in our Australian War Memorial musuem in Canberra in which they have a pretty decent aircraft collection. They have what I'm almost sure is an A6M3 painted as Saburo Sakai's V-173 which was (happy to be corrected on this) actually an A6M2. The lighting in the place is sadly a bit inadequate, which doesn't show the planes at their best and makes taking good photos near impossible. The overall grey on this Zeke appears to be a medium putty grey which by some opinion is correct but IMHO always looks too dark for me.
The grey on CMDRTED's Zeke looks about 'right' to me.

Hi Ted, Commander

As with other recolor people, recolored "commercial" models (designed originally by me) can be made available on Ecard (as soon as the site starts working again ) with your name added as re-colorist and/or updater. IIRC their policy is to split the income evenly.

Sorry for stating this in this thread, but I've had several requests this year, and this was an opportunity to spread the word easily.

thanks for the fine recolor.

B
