Oh my am I lucky to get some splashes in a 1942 Grumman Goose! Addison Pemberton is the owner and graciously shared some seats with us, my son and I ..we had fun with multiple landings on Coeur de Alene lake, there were 4 pilots including Addison, and they all wanted some stick time and a couple got landings...great fun. 2 commercial pilots, including Jay Pemberton who did quite a bit of the flying, Addison had some fun, too, the little fella is Jay's boy.
Here's my son and I on the wing I'm the young one ha

Hello Glen

Not having been keeping up to date on the forum for a rather long stretch, this thread is really remarkable, the way your redesign effort has mobilized interest and research efforts from so many quarters.

Best of luck now with the final stretch!

Leif

Thanks Leif for dropping in on this one, it's fun to work up a model like this one, some new things to try, and an airplane I've admired for a long time. I had quite a long break from this forum also, now am enjoying some new projects

A Goose is almost as good a a Duck any day. Anything Grumman would be fantastic. Just think of the history of all the aerioplanes that came out of the Bethpage plant!

Very good-looking parts!

Don

PS: A pair of rose-breasted grosbeaks passed through yesterday. Working on the assumption that the bears gave gone to ground for the winter, I began putting out suet again. I've also added golden safflower seeds to the usual shelled sunflower seeds. The birds seem to like it, as we have had more than the usual number of cardinals, tufted titmice, bluejays, house and gold finches, chickadees, red bellied and hairy woodpeckers, sapsuckers, and nuthatches. The catbirds seems to be gone for the winter, and I expect the white-throated sparrows and northern juncos (snowbirds, Lil calls them) to arrive any day.

And, as you know, we still have a decrepit Grumman Albatross waiting patiently at the Carlisle Airport.

Don sounds like your neck of the woods is a real haven for bird lovers. I just googled some of those you mentioned and I envy you. Sydney is like most cities in the world- birds not exactly in abundance but (thank god) our planners made sure we have plenty of trees so at least there's some species. But we DON'T have bears to contend with!

Glen - Please forgive me for this diversion, but Garry's comment reminded me of the episode shown in this image.

Garry - It seems odd to have our garden-variety backyard birds considered to be exotic. Compared to Kevin's South African birds, and Glen's rich aviary in the U.S. northwest, our birds are rather ordinary. But we certainly enjoy them.

Don
