Hello,

meanwhile i decided to make first the landing gear. I made the tires from balsa wood. I cut them out and put them with a screw to my drill. So I can sand the tires even while they spins. The parts fit well together.

For the front of the fuselage you have to add some weight, otherwise it will fall back on its tail.

The next step will be to attach the wings.

I found balsa wood to be too soft for wheels. I then changed to plywood and got better results. But now, I just use a circular cutter to cut cardstock circles a bit larger than final diameter and then laminate more circles to get proper thickness. Then, mount on a dremmel like rotating tool and sand down to size and shape.

With standard cardboard there's a limit on how smooth you can get the wheel model because the sandpaper tends to tear the surface. I've used sanding sealer on the card once I've roughed it down to the approximate shape. Sanding sealer smells horrible and takes a while to dry but you can get a really fine finish.

The "cheeks" on the KV-2 model mantlet (the armour around the gun) [attached] were made from built up card disks treated with sanding sealer before final shaping.

Regards,

Charlie

Thank a lot, this are really useful tips for me. I will try them. Maybe on next model - Blohm & Voss BV 141.

Hello,

so the wings are attached as the fuselage. The were not much problems and fits well to the fuselage. Next step I wanted to attach the engine, but its to large, so I had to make the middle section of the engine a litle smaller.

Also I cut a hole in the middle section of the fuselage, so that the front of the engine could fit right. It is better to scan the parts before you put them together and scale them down.

Hi,

The engine fits now very well.
I put some small details to the plane like steel wire and holder for gears. Also I finished to form the front entrance of the engine. Next I will attach the cockpit cover. Its made of acrylic glass from a polish company named AERO GLAS.

Hi,

In your previous post where you cut the middle section shorter the horse got suddenly brown??

And why is the stormtrooper in picture 3 of the previous post sleeping drunken on the floor while on duty?? This will be reported to the commander!

Wink

Hi,

I finished to make the canopy for the cockpit and the landing gears. I wasnīt satisfied with the hole for the engine in the bottom of the plane. It looks horrible, so I made a small frame around the hole. Now it look pretty fine for me. It is not possible to hold the engine in a straight line, because the hole in the front section is to low.

Iīm now finished with the plane. It was a piece of hard work, because the tiles donīt fit together well and you have to improvise much more then in other paper models. But I liked this model anyway. It a pity it that SUPER MODEL did not made an update for more accurate assembly. Join the show of the ME-1101

P.S. RDK you asked for the brown horse , now its white. Its name was TAMI. It was a small project behind the Me-1101 (see picture) for a good friend of mine. And for the Stormtrooper, he unfortunately lost his right feet, so he felt down and made himself comfortable as you can make in a Stormtrooper suit.
