Great work as always. Yes it is my understanding that these early Mitsubishi a/c were covered in a clear lacquer that turned tan after a while.

Next in the Zero series is the A6M3, or Hap, or Hamp or Zeke 32. The m3 was up engine and up gunned and had longer wings with foldable tips. However the M3 32 version had clipped wings which was taken by allied intelligence to be a whole new aircraft, hence the many call names.
Onto the model itself. This is an earlier series model and was pretty good as is. But things could always be a tiny bit better. I separated the engine cowling from the parent fuselage part and slightly enlarged it to 102%. this gave the kit a more realistic forward section. I rolled a couple tubular exhausts placed over the printed on sections. All this was done on an old paint shop pro image editor. Garry ,sorry I will do a tutorial for making landing gear in another kit. Anyhows enjoy the finished kits and the growing family pics...

Next up is the M5. Many consider this the penultimate zero in the pac war. it was up engined and up armed. the wings returned to the elliptical tips, giving back longer legs and maneuverability. the newer long barreled canons replaced the older 20mm guns, and the odd magazine went back to a belt fed affair, giving a few more rounds. the A6m5c was basically the same but had additional 12.7mm machine guns outboard of the canons. I didn't realize this until the model was finished so instead of taking the easy way out and making 2 more rolled tube guns I painted over the empty cartridge chutes. Bruno has very subtlety made the correct differences in his A5 kits, I was not to quick on the uptake. If it bothers me I'll just build up both versions in the correct forms for now I'm zero'd out for the moment.

Texman, I hate to aide and abet, but as you are announcing your poaching let me "help" you. I enlarged it slightly too much, I think @ 105-106%. Just go slightly smaller say 102-103%. Grab all the cowling parts when you enlarge, the tapers, engine face, etc, so they all fit as a unit. The 106% was a bit big and I had to shim it up a little. the larger size does make it a bit more authentic but I hate having to adapt parts to fit properly. Once again ymmv.
