Another wonderful aspect of this forum. I've learned so many new things aviation in the short time I've been a member from the likes of Don Boose, CMDRTED and others.

Zeros pt 2, end game

last on the production line is actually a retro model. The A6M3 33 was the clipped wing newly upgraded model from the M2. It looked different enough that the allies gave it a new call sign , Hap Hemp or zeke. But the Japanese found some of the "improvements" actually took away some of the advantages the Zero offered. So, they retro fitted the old full length wing, which restored those attributes and had the benefit of the upgraded engine. The model designation was simply A6M3 model 22.
This kit is the standard M3 with retrofitted wings from the A2. The bird was recolored in one of the pac war grays and given the markings of Hiroyoshi Nishizawa UI-106 251 kokutai, spring of 43. His total was 86 aircraft downed. I chose this color because most of the schemes for the Model 22 were standard boring green over gray. this was one of the few in old gray colors...

Zero close out.

here is a family pic of the most documented zero models. I toyed with the M8 but there are a bunch of conflicting data, and only 2 were actually constructed before wars end, so no concept aircraft, at this time. now what's next I wonder?????

What a wonderful collection CMDRTED. Thanks for sticking with these single type builds- gives a nice overview of the variants.

Now, about how you do that landing gear.....

Garry, just for you I'm thinking of the yak/jaks. I'll try to remember with my brain, to include a landing gear tutorial.
