Well, I wanted to finish the 152 today, but I can't because a main water pipeline broke somewhere and the zone where I live won't have water until... Monday? Tuesday? Unknow.
Anyway, just remain to place the exaust, paint better the register and place the wing and the support struts.

Thanks, Tony!
And all the parts are placed, just the last touches of paint remain to place. A bit of black, a bit of yellow, a line of blue. To improve the nose landing light.
The hardest part of the assembly were the front and rear glases. And if I did it again, I would had made the control surfaces lighter.
Overall, a good model.

Well, the water came in a few hours, but the electricity failed from saturday afternoon to sunday afternoon, so it was sort of a tradeoff :-(

And today placed the last touches of color. Considering that the blue marker I used for the letters is medium size instead of ultra-thin, I think the results are fine. And I'm happy with my collection of small civilian planes.
The other plane, a Gloster gladiator Mk II, is a plastic model I made thirty years ago, representing "Charity" from the defense of the Island of Malta. Since then the internet has given us a lot more material and best documentation.
So I decided to improve the paint scheme.
And here comes the problem. I have three sources, with just two small differences: the top wing and the propeller. At first I painted the plane like Stalthart did. Then I found the wikipedia source and had to re-repaint the top wing Sky Grey, like Silver Wings said. Luckilly, I had let the propeller in silver.
And you can say that it's a plastic model, so it's not relevant, but it shows how carefull you must be when making paper models. If you want to detail your models, that is.
And my next paper plane, the Swordfish depicted in the cover of the book "To the war in a Stringbag" is one of this cases. (More details the next post)

Well, the Cessna 152 is stored, and the plastic Gladiator is finished too.
The Fairey Swordfish, an old Model Card model, was rescaled (1:72), turn to black and white and printed. So far, just the wings are cut.
Meanwhile the really time consuming part of a model assembly is being done. Meaning, to know exactly the camouflage and markins of the plane.
The cover of the book "To the war in a stringbag" is so different to the know schemes of the 815 squadron that I doubted that the book was real, until I found the order of the battle and the name of the writer using the plane L5B armed with 4 bombs and 16 parachute flares.
But the color scheme still was off. I found pictures, manuals... but the cover still was a combination of stiles that could have happened, it's inside the specifications, but... but...
At last I decided to trust the writer and make the plane like the cover. Meaning: black underside (both wings), dark sea gray plus slate grey topside, and "sky" lateral surfaces, this one being a kind of very pale green.
The torpedo on the cover means that the plane is not depicted as was in Taranto, but still I will place the torpedo, and "damn the torpedoes!"

When you are painting your paper model, you don't need to worry abount recicling.
This weird looking piece, black down and with a plane drawn up, is the center and right upper wing of the Swordfish, without the aileron. The paper, as I said, is recicled.
I checked my spare decals collection and found the correct british roudels available. Less work. And a plastic propeller from a PBY-5A is available too. So, recicling all the way.
Yes, let's call it being environmentally responsable
The Swordfish is bigger than the Gladiator. That's because, even being both biplanes, the Gladiator was a fighter and the Sworfish was a torpedo/bomber, or in present day terminology, an attack plane.

The upper wing is assembled. I'm planning to place the ailerons like the plane were banking to the right, so I will glue them after assembling both wings.
As you can see, biplanes grew up like the postwar fighters did.
I'm glad that the ribs can be seen so easily, usualing the carving is harder to see in the pictures.
And remember, this is just the first layer of paint
