Fokker G1-A Le Faucheur 1/50 by Gerard Methorst

Greetings guys. Now that the river is more calm I show you the beginning of my new project, another design by Gerard. The Fokker G1-A "reaper" (Le Faucheur in French). Heavy twin-engine fighter that was presented in the parlor of Paris 1936, even before his first flight. He surprised his armament, 8 machine guns in the nose and 1 behind, hence the nickname. During the German invasion in May 1940, twenty-three G1 participated in the fighting along with four others that were destined for Spain A squad was practically destroyed on the ground, the rest achieved the confirmed demolition of 13 enemies. At the end of the day only one was able to fly. A brief review of what you find out about this plane, I hope it is correct.

Let's go to the model. Another interesting design by Gerard to which I am grateful again for his kindness to me. I'm getting some experience with his designs and the interpretation is simplified (I'm even learning a few words in Dutch) The design, several structural pieces to shape and join sections in them, which as I have been doing variously making eyelashes. To join the cockpit with the nose using the two pieces, after adjusting checking that it fits well simply paste both parts. The spar for the wings also modify it a little. Gerard recommends 3 pieces in wood of 2mm each, use cardboard and It was a very firm union, also eliminate the part that gives shape to the fuselage because it already had 2 pieces in that area and it was not necessary. Until here everything is fine.

Thanks Garry. It's a nice project, for now everything is going well, it's not complicated up here. We'll see when I have to line up wings and tail.
