1/144 A-10C, 107th Fighter Squadron

Here is a build of the D-Day A-10c located here

https://theaviationist.com/2018/06/0...ing-to-latvia/

This is a repaint and modification by Brent, of the SNP A-10,
rescaled to 1/144.

The most noticable difference in the A-10c and earlier
versions, is the addition of the gps dome on top and the
Beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) Airborne Radio Communications-210 (ARC-210) system antenna
immediately behind it.

One major item missing on the aircraft is the pave penny
mount on the starboard side of the fuselage. So I left it off.

I used Bruno's AGM-65 maverick and modified his AN/AAQ-14 into
the AN/AAQ-28 targeting pod.

Needing a 600 gallon centerline tank, I tried building one.
I failed. So, I raided one of my old A-10 plastic
kits that I never built. While playing around with ideas, I also used the
landing gear struts and tires from the plastic kit.

As I did with the other A-10s, I added some fuselage formers to help
in obtaining the proper fuselage shape, as well as leading edge slats.

Another addition I tried, was adding the very prominant wing fillets.
Not completely accurate, but I like it better than not having them.
The last addition I made was adding the pitot tube, made from a syringe needle.

I did have some trouble with a few spots, and despite a coat of matte, still have a couple of glossy spots.

With all its Warthog warts, are the pictures.

That nose gear alone is enough detail to exhaust most of us. Once again, Ray, excellent and inspiring work!

Simply amazing!

I think I could not build any small aircraft like A-10 in 1/144.

Great job sir! Like you I am not a "paper purist". I do what it takes to get 'er done. Gives me some ideas for possibly using plastic kit canopies for paper stuff....

Beautiful Texman. Another small scale gem.

BTW, is this what they mean by 'COIN aircraft'?
