Me 108 Brents repaint Of S&P 1/100 scale

Morning everyone. My first kit of 2024 and my first aircraft since my stroke.
The me 108 was a sport plane designed in the early 1930s. It was a very successful fast little sport plane. Many people owned these prior to WW2 even the Uk had some that during the war the were pressed into military usage. The Luftwaffe used them as personnel taxis and in some cases recon and a few in afrika were outfitted to carry light bombs.
The S&P designed by Bruno V E was repainted by Brent offered as a package on ecards.
I thought I'd start with a "simple" design but Hmmm! Here are some part printed out and some lamination done. I separate the wheels in a kit and double up some detail parts. Also I print tubes such as landing gear on @20 lb paper that allows the part to be more tightly rolled...

I downloaded and made a collage of actual aircraft pics and drawings. The 108 had an almost sedan like appearance around the cockpit area. I started with the rolled dingle strut landing gear. I added some area above the top most section of the strut so that it could be inserted into the aircraft instead of just being butt joined to a flat surface of the fuselage ( red arrows). Also i made the 2 piece strut doors one piece as the pics I saw didn't really show this part in 2 pieces...

Fingers crossed for a successful build CMDRTED.

Just a guess, but there are certain features of this repaint that suggest to me a Gerry's job.

It's Gerry's. Part of the 108 B-2 bundle.

Good start, Ted, and some useful methodogy advice, too.

Do you remember the scene in the film "The Longest Day" when two Me-108s stand in for Pips Priller and Heinz Wodarczyk's FW-190s and their famous beat up of SWORD Beach on D-Day?

yes I remember the scene something like "the luftwaffe's finest hour" And I sincerely apologize to Gerry as it is indeed his repaint, oops my bad!
Anyhows getting back on track, The wings and horizontal stabs were pretty routine, trim wing tip edges burnish them and fold them over. The rudder was another thing however, for me now. It was designed as 2 pieces and I started as usual sanding the edges and burnishing the edges for a fuller looking part. But try as i might I couldn't get the separate parts to match up correctly, not a design flaw but a builders flaw. So the KISS method was applied, I readjusted the part so it was one piece joined at the leading edge success! (KISS, keep it simple stupid).

IIRC, a 108 is also the aircraft that Hendley and Blythe steal in The Great Escape.

Way cool, 2 more movies to rewatch and pick out details. I used to watch Where eagles dare to catch views of the Ju 52 on the opening credits. Kick a-- title theme also!
Having finished the fuselage, you can see the sedan shaped cockpit/crew area. The biggest Challenge is making the transitions forward and aft of the cabin assembly. Alot of jiggery pokery to get those shape correct!
