Great tune with some subtle sounds and layers. Would love to hear a newly produced version that doesn't stray from the original, just making use of stereo separation. The song is so much swing band I think Brian Setzer could do a great job. The version from the "saturday Morning" cd release ten or so years ago was eeh. |

thanks for that BManic. Looking at the pictures, you can see the artists based their designs on a number of real machines. I can see an OV-10 Bronco, and the steam boat from the Oscar award winning movie African Queen is barely disguised as the, "Amazon Queen" for the JQ episode.
Fun stuff. I was in pre-teen and early teen years when JQ hit the air. Thanks for the memories

I have some screen caps of the Dragonfly and some drawings (and screen caps) of some of the other hardware items) if anyone is interested in the reference material.
I can't remember the web site (forgot to save it), but they had all of the Jonny Quest episodes available in .avi format for download. Best Regards,

Oh man... I only caught it on re-runs in the early 70s, but I so imagined myself as Jonny Quest! (of course, I also imagined myself as the Phantom, Tarzan, and Speed Racer too)
A touch OT, but wouldn't this make a really cool live action movie? Where's Quentin Tarentino or Michael Bay when you need them? |

You are so right. That would make for a fun movie/franchise.
Along the same line, my friend lent The Outer Limits series to me which aired during the same time frame. Today, the special effects look hokey. But, to a young teenager, the they were totally believable. The story lines still hold up pretty well. Most of the stories play upon the fear we had at that time of the unknown, nuclear annihilation, xenophobia, and UFO scares. It was fun growing up in the age of the Cuban Missile Crisis. As a 10 year old, I was never afraid; I lived on a SAC bomber base in FL, and I knew we'd blast the Russkies back to the stone age! Such hubris.

Oh, Gil... Don't even get me started. :D
Anyone remember "Master Blasters" aired on the Discovery Channel last year? The HP Rocketeers in Texas? They did an episode where they had to make Lawn Dart rockets that could go like one mile, and tried to hit cars out in the field with them... Anything is possible. |

Anyone still looking for a Dragonfly? The glue's still wet, and I found few things that need tweaking, but....
