XF4U-1 Corsair in 1/100

XF4U-1 Corsair

In WWII the real story behind fighter design was not so much the airframe design and aerodynamics but the rapid pace of engine development. Probably the most classic example of this is with Vought's fabulous Corsair. The first aircraft to be designed for the 2,000 hp 18-cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial, it was truly a phenomenon when it first flew at over 400 MPH on October 1, 1940

This is Thaipaperwork’s slick little 1/100 Corsair reworked by my good friend Jeff Orcutt to the XF4U-1. He has even gone to the work of adding a complete interior in 1/100 scale!

I really look forward to building this classic little prototype of such a long line of amazing aircraft.

Looks like a good project. What process will you use to make a clear canopy so the interior can be seen?

I recently built this in 1/144. I look forward to what you can do in 1/100!

Good luck Michael!

The straight lines of the canopy lend themselves to the clear packing tape method,

Jeff Orcutt - Hawkman87 has added a cockpit interior to his XF4U-1 version of Nobi's Corsair. Pretty sure this little jewel will provide quite a few 1/100 cockpits in my future.

Thanks Jeff!

Got a lot going on here at Arabiana Miniature Horses with the birth of a new 17 lb filly with 50 lbs of attitude so I may be a little busy for the next few days. I'm really looking forward to doing this little "First of Many" Corsairs justice.

Another great model. good to see the interior.
But it seems nobody ever bothered to design the wing bomb bays.
