So is it coming together without issues? Are there any gaps on bevelled/ wing seams? Than was my biggest issue. Are necelles of correct size to fit under wing?

Greetings MM builders!
Yeah, the P-38 is a challenge and doesn't result in a pretty build. I too have a shelf of unbuilt MM kits and agree that most of the pre-1990 [or so] kits were printed on crap. I call it 'communist toilet paper'. Many designs are okay, so scanning and cleaning images in Paint Shop Pro often results in a decent looking model. Some are beyond hope as panel lines blend into dark camo colors. Tracing lines in a new layer and then coloring in another layer is a lot of labor, so it has to be something you REALLY want to do [I've done it]. As for aluminum color choice, nothing duplicates it. I found dull aluminum colored card stock at a local office supply store intended for document covers. Works okay when the image prints on it [at the office supply machine] but makes the result a bit pricey. Insignia aren't bright enough, thought. Cheaper to find a supplier and just buy the kit. Is Maly Modelarz still active? The last kit I found listed is the CANT Z-506B "Airone" from December, 2013. Google searches don't show anything after it. - Erik |

It's coming together with some issues but I'm used to it. There're not too many models in my scale(1/33) which are perfect and without issues. Answering your questions: I used all internal structures, they just need some cutting and ?grinding?(I mean that you have to: oszlifować dobrze wręgi). Nacelles are in correct size, everything's fine. I didn't notice any visible gaps. If I find some I'll fill them with some glue. To all who don't understand in Polish, I just have no idea is it correct to say that you grind or polish the cardboard. In Polish it's correct but in English it sounds quite weird.

MM is still active, although they release new models with huge delays. My newest MM is Spitfire from 2013 or 2015(I'm not sure right now). Here you got the link to MM site: Mały Modelarz

As far as I remember MM was always way behind yet instead of making simpler models like this P-38 they choose to go with monstrosities with gazilion parts. Those take a lot of careful designing and that takes time.
Either way, good to see this p-38 come along nicely.I will be building one (or four) but those will be of Aaron designs. |

Fantastic and beautiful P-38. I like MM because they are accurate yet not so hard to build. They include nice building instructions. They are not like those beautiful but unbuildable Halinski models. MM are designed for Joe Average modeler.
