Stipa caproni (vh-scz) 04
LOL!!! Got you all there. Betcha you all thought this was my next build. (although I'll bet our friend Criquet would be intrigued).
Nope. Just an amazing aircraft. Saw this over on the dreaded FarceBook between getting myself hacked repeatedly (not that there is anything wrong with that). Just wanted to share..

Fiddlers Green actually offers a model of this aircraft (designed by Aaron Murphy, you will not be surprised to know): Flying-Barrel | Aircraft |
And Jan Kytop has built it: Stipa Caproni replica , 1/72 , [Fiddlersgreen] Don |

I built the Flying Barrel a few years ago and have it hanging in my shop. Its a real conversation starter.

This is a ducted fan propulsion system. By itself there is nothing unusual about it other than the designer neglected the rest of the airplane features
The propeller is housed inside the duct (barrel) to minimise losses and increase thrust efficiency. Isaac

When I formed the fuselage on that thing I couldn't help thinking of a Sapparo Beer can.

One of my "World's Worst Aircraft" books describes it as "A Tiger Moth fell down a well".
