I too tried to build wheels from balsa wood. However, they broke apart when sanding them on a Dremmel rotary tool or a hand drill. So I switched to plywood sanded and shaped on my mini lathe with better results. However, it was a lot more work to shape the wheels. Now, I just laminate card stock that I cut using a circular cutter , shape it on a my mini lathe and find it best.

Information in case you want to try it.

I would you be able to show some pictures how you making your wheels? or short movie? The only thing I had it was balsa wood so I tried and it wasnt breaking for me. I used rotary tool and it makes wheels pretty quick. Please send more info how you make them with more details...As I said I am here to learn this great hobby
