F-15A - Yoav's design - completed

What a pleasure it is to build such a well designed model.

Thank you Yoav for the model and thank you Chris Abeln aka McTschegsn for the canopy.

It is a rather large model. The only problem I encountered was fitting the skins of the drop tanks. It is important to notch the glue strips in order to get the skins to fit otherwise they will be short leaving a gap.

I'm sure my Nieces 9 year old son will thoroughly enjoy having this on display in his bedroom.

Hi Paul

When ou say it’s a large model, how big is it?
Can you take a pic next to a scale or something as a comparison?

Cheers

If built to the original scale of 1/30 it would be 25 inches or 64.7 centimeter long

alzictorini,

I built the F-15A as designed with no modifications at 1:30 scale. I estimate it is about 25" long as Isaac said.

Yoav,

When I put skins on I usually do not glue the bottom seam until I have glued the skin around to the adjacent part. Doing that on the drop tanks without notching the glue strips before gluing I could not stretch the skin tight enough to allow the seam to meet on the bottom of the skin. I'm sure it is just my error but on the second tank I found that notching the glue strips allowed the skin to fit perfectly. I think It has something to do with the angles of the matching parts. Again, a great model and a pleasure to build, thank you.

To all,

I apologize for the poor quality of the photographs. Honestly I would much rather cut, fold, and glue than to take photos. Perhaps I will try again before shipping it to Kansas.
