Exclamation Fuselage assembly

The method i use in these type of fuselages is to build from both ends in. The main construction is the aft sections, the forward sections and the middle.

So here is the aft section which includes the engine exhaust duct.

Now do the forward section which includes the air intake
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8371.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8372.jpg

Note, the kit has gun ports. However this being one experimental aircraft it did not have guns. So cover them up or color them in.

here is the inlet splitter.

Exclamation Fuselage continued

Here are the main fuselage sections ready. Note that the center section is cylindrical with multiple cutouts for the landing gear bays, cockpit and speed brake housing.
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8379.jpg

The forward section now has an added loose side ( the yellow 3 ). I found it important to add it now because later on it would be difficult to keep it smooth.
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8381.jpg

Now add the bulkhead 2.4 to the opening
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8384.jpg

The cockpit is dry fit. Do not glue it yet!

The Yak is starting to take shape. I really appreciate you detailing each step.

Exclamation Center section joining

The center section is relatively flimsy with all the cutouts. So I added multiple card doublers on the inside by all the cutouts. This minimized the wrinkling
Note : I used UHU glue for this task.
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8388.jpg

At this point, glue the forward section to the center section around the cutout for the cockpit.
Note : The cockpit is not installed at this point. Use the opening to press the fuselage sections tight.

Exclamation Insert cockpit

The cockpit can be inserted as a unit thru the cutout, then slipped a bit aft and then leveled. Now push it forward into place.
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8391.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8392.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8393.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8394.jpg

From the upper cutout for the speed brake, we can insert the bulkhead 2.5 and slip it under the cockpit. Then glue in place.
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8395.jpg

Now apply a light coat of glue to the cockpit sides to the fuselage.
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8397.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8398.jpg

Later on, add the control stick and pilot seat.

Cool center fuselage

Now add the landing gear forward bay. Note that the part is flimsy and needs card stock doublers on the sides and top
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8399.jpg

That entire assembly is slipped in thru the upper fuselage opening
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8400.jpg

glue the landing gear bay in place ( you can move it around using fingers thru the openings
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8402.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8403.jpg

Next let's install the speed brake bay on top and behind the cockpit
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8404.jpg
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8405.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8407.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8408.jpg

Note: for such a simple kit, this was not really necessary to have a separate speed brake. I wish it was printed with the fuselage. However, it was useful to have an opening to use the fingers and push the cockpit and landing gear bay into position.

now lets add the fuselage frames. I cut two extra frames to fit inside.
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8409.jpg

inside view
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8413.jpg

add frame
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8414.jpg

add a second frame
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8415.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8416.jpg

Now add the aft landing gear bay in the fuselage ( remember to add card stock doublers to the sides and top )
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8418.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8420.jpg

aft frame is now installed

More soon

Cool Fuselage joined

Now lets join the aft section to the forward+center
Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8423.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8425.jpg

and here it is:

Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8426.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8427.jpgYakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model-img_8428.jpg

That is all for now. I am heading for the local airport for my currency flight in both Cessna and Piper aircraft. Nice sunny day here in Dayton.
