In addition to the main gear bicycle configuration, the aircraft needed outrigger wheels to stabilize it on the ground. So here they are:

Now the aircraft is on its gear

The model makes provision for a large speed brake located on top of the fuselage behind the cockpit. Since I have not seen any photos with the brake deployed ( or even if it is a speed brake ), I built it as shown.

The aircraft has a long boom for the pitot tube and other instrumentation if needed mounted on the splitter in the nose intake. I decided to use music wire instead of making it out of wood or paper.

Here it is

I then mounted it on my mini lathe and sanded the forward portion to make it shiny.

Then mounted.

The model is now finished.

The model is now completed.

It is a relatively simple and easy model to build with average skills. There are no compound curved to deal with. All the cross sections are round and it can be built in a relatively short time.

On it's own, I don't know why anyone would select to build it. However, it makes a nice addition to early generation Soviet jet aircraft. My collection of those planes is growing.

I have the Yak-30 kit I purchased last month and also downloaded the MaksArt Yak-19. I also have the Su-15 ( 1st designation ) and the Mig-Ye8 so those will add nicely to that collection.

WOW, naother amazing model, Isaac.

As always, with the separate control surfaces and that deployed speed brake. The display shows a lot of detail.

It's always a pleasure to see one of your builds and threads.
