Cool Yakovlev Yak-1000 YG-model

Fresh from my trip to Poland a week ago , I decided to build something relatively easy and simple.

So here it comes. The Yakovlev technology demonstrator called the Yak-1000.

The kit maker is YG-mode. The company is coming out with ever increasing pace of new kits. I have built a few of their models before. They are getting better and better.

A bit of information on the aircraft here :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakovlev_Yak-1000

and you can search here as well:
https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...byegClnJwWEXM:

Before we get too excited, note that this is an actual plane that was built. However it did not fly due to poor stability on the ground and they probably realized this was a dead end project. But nevertheless, it shows an interesting approach to a supersonic aircraft with minimal wing surfaces ( sort of like the F-104 Starfighter that went into production ( but should not have because there were better solutions to the purpose it was built ).

My additional reference is from a few books that Yefim Gordon compiled,

Note:
I have no plans of detailing it other than what the kit brings, so other than glaring errors, it will go as is.

More soon.

This kit was originally released by MaksArt, #19 in his catalog, post 181 here>> http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/500864-post181.html

I see he is very prolific. Not sure about his downloads since I rarely do it from sites I have not worked with before.

So YG is the publishing house for him?

I like the designs though.

YG publishes some of his kits, not all of them

and his downloads are also available through his Google Drive

Isaac
I will probably build more of his early jet kits. I also purchased the Yak 30. All appear easy to build.

Hope they look good

Smile Info on the plane

Reference information is available and here are some pages from Yefim Gordon books. Lots more available on the web including pictures of plastic models.

Notice the radial flow compressor jet engine configuration. That "fat" circumference does not go well with speed, let alone supersonic speed. They would have to wait for a better axial flow compressor jet engine with a small diameter to go fast!.

I love experimental planes!

The kit

This is a basic model in design, detail and colors. However it is done nicely with good graphics to assist in the build. The entire model is printed on 3 A4 pages and the rest are the instructions and cover.

Since this is a prototype plane that never flew, it would be clean and no stains or usage marks, so it is perfect for simple printing.

Note:
Since this is a first for me, I have not noted the originator ( MaksArt ) before, but he appears to design and release for free use on the web. Based on what I see, he does a very clean design and use of computer rendering is great.
