You're reading my mind! I have a Ki-61 with chipped off paint in my plans. But looks like I've found a good method for building and recoloring: 2 Allied planes then 2 Axis planes and then repeat. It gives me a lot of energy because I'm not tired doing aircraft from the one side. So now Saipan Zero is the second Axis airplane and that means the next two will be Allied. I'm sure you're gonna love my next subject(Rata should be very interested too).

Check the attachment.

Glad to see that you are going to do the Douglas A-24 Banshee (Army Dauntless), Kacper. Its performance in the Pacific wasn't stellar, but it did serve with the 27th Bombardment Group (BG) in Australia (your airplane); the 91st Bombardment Squadron, 27th BG, in Java; and with the 8th Bombardment Squadron, 3rd BG, during the attack on Buna in Papua, New Guinea, in 1944.

The personnel of the 27th BG were sent to the Philippines in November 1941, but their aircraft (transported in a different ship) were diverted to Australia. The commander and air crews were flown to Australia, arriving on Christmas Eve 1941, to pick up their aircraft, but were unable to return to the Philippines and subsequently fought in Australia and Java. The ground crews were trapped on Bataan and formed the 2nd Battalion (27th Bombardment Group), 1st Provisional Air Corps Regiment. They fought until the surrender, when the survivors endured the Bataan Death March and imprisonment until 1945.

Very interested Kacper. Look forward to it mate.

Thanks for that insight Don. I've heard of but don't know a lot about the Bataan Death March apart from the fact it was utterly horrific.

Thanks for these interesting informations and links, Don.
Banshee is quite new to me, I wasn't really aware of Army variant of Dauntless so I'm glad to read something about its history and involvement in Pacific War.

As we have a weekend now, maybe I'll try to start something with that A6M5 '"Zero" Saipan 1944.

A6M5 "Zero" - Saipan 1944

Zero is done. An old S&P design but very enjoyable. Aside from recoloring I've also added few modifications. These include full landing gear and antenna.

Here's some history of this aircraft.
