What a very fine job Josef! I'm surprised to see that the joint of the nose cone sections is on top of the model. But it's hardly visible - very well done.

Cheers,
Erik

Hi Erik

The joint of the nose is on the top, because around the nose there are 7 C-band antennas called IEWS (Integrated Electronic Warfare Suite),
and the center antenna is directly above and it hides the upper connection.

And as you know me, I do not like to see unnecessary joints on my models....so I took advantage of this fact, and by doing so the lower part of this nose is without joint....As you can see in the following pictures.

YOAV

and this is the real thing

and the lower side (in the middle of the nose).....without antenna

Thanks Yoav, now you mention it, I remember this from your tutorial (and the pictures of the model which I downloaded some time ago). Very smart indeed!

Yoav, the big paper model companies have much to learn from your design philosophy. It's very clever.

Fuselage seams

Josef,

Your fuselage seams are flawless, can you explain the process you use to join them?

Hi Paul,

all you need is an exact construction like Yoav's.
For cutting I prefer a pair of scissors. Unfortunately, I already need a magnifying glass.
The next step is to paint the edges.
Glue in the straps and ribs and make a trial fit.
Always apply the adhesive on the side that pushes the adhesive inward during assembly.

That's all, have fun with your cardboard models.

Seppi
