January was AirDave month

I spent most of January on building some of AirDave's models. The P-51 Mustang models are from his early days, and lack cockpits and such. Unfortunately, the T-41 Tudor is destined for the dust bin. It was Dave's birthday present model to me. I pretreated the cardstock before the build, and the finishing clear coat did not react well with it. But it was good practice for the rebuild, but this time I'm shrinking it down to 1/48 scale.

Great fun looking at your fine rendition of some of AirDave’s designs. I’m so sorry that you had trouble with the coatings on the Tutor. Thanks for showing the incomplete Tutor; it’s inspiration for the on in my to-build stack. The P-51s should all give you a feeling of satisfaction.

Very nice collection. Thanks for sharing, knife. Too bad about the coating on the Tutor.

Sorry to hear the Tutor clear sealer was a failure for you.
It didn't look bad in the photos, but I understand.

Nice to see those old "Rare and Unusual Paint Scheme" Mustang kits built.
I acknowledge they were some of my very first attempts (at modifying and repainting some old Marek designs).
I told knife how much I hate those older petal style Prop Spinners!

I'd like to go back and update those kits...see what I can do to bring them up to a better standard now that my skills have also improved.

There are limits however, since these were based on 1/50 scale kits.
Theres only so much modifying that can be done.
Even Marek redesigned all his Mustangs a few years back.

but Knife also gave me a great idea...to combine this particular set of "unusual" paint schemes
into one bundle (at a special price of course).

I think thats exactly what I will do...after I do some updating first.

Those are some awesome builds , and it’s great to see AD’s unusual Mustang kits getting built, and so superbly, too.
