More progress with the model.

Engine is done, had to boned half of the pistons inside the aircraft, and after that I could finish the motor cowling.

In parallel started with the landing gear. In this aircraft, because of the big propeller, the main landing gear is very long, each gear has two rotating axis, as seen in the picture (taken from a walk around)

I didn't like the model upper part design, so I scratched another one.

This is a dry assembly with a 3D sketch of the landing gear with the main landing gear door. The landing gear will be painted in navy blue color.

And the upper landing gear located in the wheel bay.

Great work. Very smooth fuselage and flying surface joins.

Outstanding work on the improved landing gear!

Very nice, just thinking outside of the box here but, is there a need for reinforcement between the front of the canopy and the engine firewall? It can be difficult to see what is a problem and what is my glasses. This is partly sparked from looking into new carburetors for my car which is proving to be, interesting times as MR Pratchett would say.

Here are a few photos I took of a Bearcat at the US naval aviation museum in Pensacola Florida. I was there in February this year.

Thanks Don, Mike1158, Erik and Isaac. The attached pictures are very helpful Isaac.
Today is Israel's 71 Independence Day, and one of the main Air Force bases - Tel-nof was open today for the public. Will present some of the pictures in a separate thread.

Thanks Abir Merlin. Working now on the small parts - landing gear, belly full tank and win tips, this can take more time than building the all fuselage.

Hello all,

Working now with the details of this model, progress is small, but in the right direction.

Belly fuel tank is done.

Canopy is in work, bonded the aft frame to the fuselage and not to the canopy is is shown in the instructions. My plan is to slide the transparent canopy into the frame.

Main effort are the main landing gear, that were partially scratch build. From looking at the picture, the wheels need some improvement.

Next will be the landing gear assembly.
