From the internet I learned that this model aircraft belongs Naval Air Station (NAS) Glenview at around 1951.

Now, back to the model. Wings are done and bonded, and also the vertical tail.

Next are the horizontal tail and the wheels bays.

Thanks Mike1158 and Yoav.

Before continue with the build, for a model with extended landing gear, had to cut the outer lower skin, as seen in the next picture.

Following this correction, put my effort in bonding the wings leading edge upper panel, were the inner color is part of the wheels bay.

Need to paint the edges, found for this an acrylic "navy blue" paint.

Moving forward with this model, main emphasis are the tail, cockpit and engine.

The vertical and horizontal tails are done.

Most of the cockpit is done, added straps to the seat. Steak and pedals are not done yet.

Building the engine is a time consuming, it is done from 18 pistons, each one is made of 8 parts.

Part of the cowling (parts 3&4 in the sketch) are bonded to the fuselage, the engine with all pistons assembled will not go through the opening. Had to boned only half of the pistons ant the rest will be bonded inside.

.

Need to finish the engine to complete the cowling.

Nice work. The Bearcat has always been one of my favorites. I had the Ideal wood and metal model when I was a kid.

Ditto. My first exposure to it (at least in model form) was the old Monogram 1/72 plastic. Loved it.
