S&P 1/100 good bye to 2018

Here are finished pics of S&P century scale aircraft that didn't get pics at the time of builds, built throughout 2018, and for whatever reason never got posted. number one, the me 163. this was Germany's rocket plane, that carried caustic fuel, had limited range, was launched off of a reusable wheel carriage thing that jettisoned on take off and relied on a sprung skid to provide a "safe" landing. Lower lumbar fractures were common on 'successful" landings...
the undercarriage was scratch built, simply wheels and a little rectangle as the carriage.

number 2, is an entry from kampflieger, a BT-8. this was a pre WW2 trainer. the original was in a blue fuselage, that was changed to an olive green. the kit was in 1/100 and I have no idea of where and when I got it.
this was built straight out of the box...

Number 3. switching back to S&P, is the J29 Saab Tunnen. This little beer barrel aircraft was my biggest failure when modeling in 1/33 scale. I had the old Geli version , printed on their metallic silver paper and was augmented by grafting a FW 190 cockpit to the fuselage. I got hung up in the tail section, became very frustrated, and crumpled the thing, never to return later as I built up some skills.
This little gem was one of Bruno's earlier offerings, with some scratch built landing gear...

On number 3, the Tunnen. this was actually a newer gen model and did come with landing gear, my apologies.
Number 4, continuing with the Swedish air arm is the J22.
This was a neat little piston fighter armed with 4 cannons in the wings, a very good climb rate and fairly good maneuverability.
This was an early S&P kit with simple scratch built landing gear, other wise out of the box...

Number 5, S&P dauntless. this was in simple colors and markings, with a bomb borrowed from the Kampflieger vindicator model. simple and provides a very celebrated aircraft from the pacific war...

All great builds of some great (and pretty, if not great) airplanes.

Thanks for posting these images, and for all your excellent tips on building these 1/100 aircraft.

Number 6, The TBD Devastator. This was the US Navies first all metal aircraft which at the time of it's introduction was a premier state of the art torpedo bomber. However at the start of WW2 it was hopelessly outclassed and it's only success was in the coral sea battle where it helped to sink the Japanese light carrier shoho. At the time of midway they were hopelessly outclassed.
The kit goes together very well, I added a torpedo from kampflieger's Jill.

Number 7, the F4D skyray. This was another favorite kit from my younger years, especially the airfix version. When building this earlier S&P kit it suffered from 2-3 rebuilds. the wing to fuselage section was a little confusing and I wish build pics were done. The wings and fuselage sections at the join are doubled and gives the impression that they should not overlap but the do. anyone building this shoot me an message and i'll try to re construct what I did. I added aim 9 sidewinders, fuel tanks from the Skyhawk series and scratch built up the landing gear. The tailhook was re designed as was the little trailing wheel assembly. The dorsal fin needs a little tweaking to fit to the canopy and the fuselage.
It was finally finished but sadly no build pics were taken...

Very nice models.

It's good to see S&P Dauntless. Currently I'm building one that I've recolored into RNZAF camouflage, also with some modifications/improvements.

What a neat collection of your art CMDR. That F4D is a real gem and I'm glad you stuck with it. I'd heard of the FFVS J-22 but yours is the first model of it I've ever encountered. Trust Vanhecke to have one in his series!
