In the year 72, 10 Mirage lllEA and 2DA arrived in Argentina. The intention was to increase the number of airplanes, difficulties in the economy made other options contemplate. One was to acquire second-hand airplanes and it was negotiated with the Israeli Air Force, the intention was to acquire the Kfir C.2, but American pressures made fall this possibility. Negotiations continued and opted for the last option, the Nesher IAI Mirage 5, unlicensed copy of the Mirage lll thanks to industrial espionage. Argentina acquired 26 devices, began to arrive in mid-November 1978 renamed Dagger. After the conflict was continued a modernization program that forced the conflict to continue without foreign aid, budgetary problems delayed the project but it was completed and the aircraft received the name of Finger. Some It is the story of the name of our Dagger.

Why did you remove it Carlos? It's interesting to know information, I have something else.
The first contract with France was for 12 Mirage III and 2 lllDA. Then it was reduced to 10 III and 2 lllDA On September 5, 1972, the first one arrived (l-001) on a C-130. Then 7 lllEA others were acquired and 2 lllDA. They were received between December 1979 and July 1980. The intention was to acquire more, budgetary reasons tipped the balance in favor of the Israeli Nesher. When the conflict erupted operationally there were 17 Mirage and 36 Dagger. |

Because sometimes I think I appear too agressive, plus I hadn't seen you had already given the same info re:Neshers/Daggers.
The other second hand Mirages acquired by Argentina were re-engined Mirage IIIB/C from Israel and some 10 Mirage 5P donated (rather than sold, I think) by Peru. Those arrived after the end of the Falklands conflict. The M5P received a limited upgrade and became Mirage 5P Mara.

Hi Sergio, very well done! What a small scale and you can build yourself an airforce without much space required!
Cheers, Erik |

Actually the 10 M 5P offered by Peru arrived in Argentina on June 5, 82 'during the war. They are brought by Peruvian crews arriving at the base of the G6C in Tandil. They are changed the serial number by those of the Dagger shot down. They did not enter into combat, and at the end of the year Argentina opts to stay with the airplanes. Some sources say that a payment was made for them, they were times of dictatorships and everything was handled in secret. Arriving at the end of the 80's they were re -numbered for the Mara program. I'm not completely sure, I think something like 92 Mirage family aircraft were used in the history of the FAA. They were much appreciated by all those who served with them. Greetings and thank you very much Carlos!

Thank you very much Erik, I could build a whole squadron, and I would occupy the same space as the Hurricane you are building!

Greetings.
Trying to make my long list of pending constructions decrease (of course, I did not succeed, today I grew again) I built these small Mirage of the Air Force of my country. One lllC and two 5P Mara. Most entertaining and although the paper in the they were printed was very poor I managed them and they were pretty good. The best of the three is gray. The most difficult were the supplementary tanks, they put my patience to the test, and although they were close to beating me they did not get it. Carlos, thank you very much for these Mirages with the colors of my country, here they were, they are and will continue being the national pride. If you want to see some images, visit this blog. Thank you very much. https://mirage232.blogspot.com/?m=1 |

I think I haven't seen this thread before, but these aircraft are really stunning Sergio. Can't believe they're 1/200!
Very well done! Also few interesting facts/informations about history of these planes. Thanks for sharing.
