Yes, it was about 2/3 the size of the most comparable jets at the time. That was also a consideration when the Mig-15 was selected for production. When finished, I will take pictures of it next to those other models in the same scale. Isaac

Cockpit
The cockpit is a solid design that can't be slipped thru the cutout. It must be inserted from the back.
Here it is and installed. A technical note: This design is totally wrong! The cockpit tub was surrounded on both sides by the engine air ducts ( hence the need for a splitter in the nose ). So in reality it was a narrow cockpit . This kit brings the sides all the way to the fuselage inner walls which is wrong. However, I decided not to correct this detail since the kit itself is simple and making this correction will not add to the realism of the model. I would love to see an enhanced model with more correct details. Isaac

Continue aft
continue the fuselage sections going aft
joining to the center section Note: Do not insert the framing into the center at this point. You can insert it later after the sections are joined to stick the fingers on the inside to press the sections tight. Now, just slide the center framing in from the back. Do not glue it. Let it float inside as you will need to adjust its position. Isaac

Fuselage is joined
At this point, assemble the forward half to the aft fuselage half.
and here it is a side note: The model has provisions for speed brakes. However, those are small and have no detail. I decided not to build them since they add very little unless the kit is more complex. This is a simple kit and I left it as such. Isaac

Thanks for the update, Isaac. I really appreciate your tips and notes. A very nice looking little aircraft.

very good work my friend.
It looks like you're running a marathon with these series of models. YOAV |

Yes, it is another marathon. When I finish this Yak 30, I will build a Yak 19, Yak 25, Mig E8, and Suchoi Su-15 ( 1 ). Then I will relax before moving on to other models. I also need to purchase more good A4 card paper from Japan to continue building your IAF jets; that is coming too. Isaac

Wings
Observation
The kit wings separates the inner section close to the root from the rest of the wing. I personally don't know why as the wing does not have any geometry change in that location. The only reason, I can think is that the designer's approach to attaching the wings to the fuselage is to butt join the wings at that location ( which I do not favor for this model ). Here are the wing skin parts and frames/ribs Here are the ribs and attaching frames to the fuselage. I do like those as they will set the proper anhedral ( wings droop ). Now add the glue tabs at the tips and for mating the inner skin and then the small framing parts I only added my usual folded over trailing edge glue strip Note : The red stars are on the bottom, so when gluing the inner wing skin makes sure that the landing gear cut out and the red star are on the same side. Glue the wing skins over meeting at the trailing edge. Of note is that all the control surfaces are separate which is a nice touch. Isaac

Wings on
Now comes the next step.
Attach the small wing root framing thru the main landing gear cutout at the bottom of the fuselage center section. There is a notch in the framing and it would fit nicely there and achieve the correct orientation. ready both wings add glue strips to the top and bottom of the ribs next to the fuselage. Those are used to guide the wing skins and provide more of a glue surface. glue the wings on. They will come close and the small gaps will be covered later on by the wing root fillets. Here is a quick status Isaac
