Leave enough room in your suitcase for a Tupperware container. Bring your kits and make up all the small fiddly bits and toss them in the container for safe keeping. I do most of my build on the road. Here is my “go bag” for modeling on the road. All approved for carry on baggage by the TSA. I keep the glue in a separate bag in case the tops pop off and leak over everything. The small baggy has bird shot for nose weights. The white container has magnets for display stands. The hotel card key is my straight edge. Alone time in a hotel room is perfect for modeling, especially if you have trouble sleeping.

You're fast Isaac! Good luck with your trip. Amazing that the cockpit design of the model does not coincide much with the real situation. I noticed that it seems like the cockpit instrumentation only consisted of attitude indicators, given the dial details.
A gluing strip at the trailing edges of the wings is a very practical trick. It prevents that accidental glue spills "spoil the foil", which can never ever be corrected anymore. I usually apply glue only on the edges and then run along with the tip of a knife to let the glue trickle just a little bit in between the upper and lower sides, enough to increase the strength of the bond as it's not always possible to install a tab. Anyway, the number of tricks to solve a challenge are endless. Have a safe trip, Erik |

On the road

Here is my stuff I'm staying for 3 week in one place in Florida and I brought material to build as well. So hopefully, I will have time to build. The other week is going to Panama, so not bringing anything on that portion. Isaac

I have a travel kit I use as well, but the biggest problem are the scalpel/craft knife blades if I only have carry on.
I normally tape a couple together and throw them in my spongebag. So far, I have not had an issue. ----------------------- Security seems to be getting sloppier which is not to say one should try and break the rules! The other day I put my hand in my laptop bag and cut my finger. On investigation I found our missing breadknife which fallen neatly down the side of a cushion at the bottom kf the bag. I had put it in the bag to take to work and forgot about it. The point is it had been there months and had traveled through numerous domestic airports (security as good as anyone else) as well as through Heathrow!

I am well into my 2nd week away from home and started building my next project of the Yak series. It is the Yak 19 , then after that a Yak 25 . I'll post a new thread on those two. Both are from MaksArt and very similar build.
Isaac

Wheels
Finally after catching up with all my other "stuff", I am getting back to continued building.
So lets make the wheels for all three Yaks, I used a circle cutter on card stock and cut out multiple circles Stack the disks to width and glue to each other. Drill a hole in the center, mount on my mini lathe and using sanding sticks, sand the wheels to shape. Here are all 3 sets ready for painting by inserting a squashed tooth pick to be used as a spindle and then paint them all glue the hubs in place. and all three sets of wheels. A note: this is my preferred method of making wheels, and there are others Isaac
