No adjustments were made. I guess I got lucky or something.

However, I glued the fences in the back only and when dry, I applied small amounts of glue going forward and that helped the conformity of the fences to the wings.

Cool Comparison

The Yak 30 can be compared as I have in my second posting of this thread to both the Dassault Mystre 4a and the Mig-15 http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/662356-post2.html

However, here it is visually compared to the Mystre and you can see it is much smaller in size. Both models are in 1/33 scale.

Very good model Isaac.Thank you for excellent pictures of it.

If you compare pictures of Yak-30 with those of Yak-23 and Mig-15 you can tell how it was to an extend a "marriage" of ideas from both.Perhaps Yakovlev designers were simply told by higher ups what direction of advancement they expect and designers did exactly that using ideas known to them and tested in production?

The Yak 15, 17 and 23 were all derivation of a German concept of Pod and boom design. The Soviet after WW2 started with the Yak 3 prop fighter and grafted a jet engine to the nose. That became a Yak 15. Then the improvements ended with the Yak 23.
here are my models of those planes:
Yakovlev Yak 30-MaksArt-yaks.jpg

The real change came with the Yak 19, 25 and 30 series. However, the engine selected was small and thus these aircraft were smaller in comparison to the Mig-15. Obviously politics was a major factor ( and where is it not a factor? ) and the Yak 30 lost. However, the Yakovlev design bureau did have great success later on with the Yak 25 thru Yak 28 series ( new designation ) of specialized twin engined aircraft.

Thanks

I love a good discussion
