Those petal type of constructions are very difficult to make. I usually glue the petals one by one and as symmetrical as possible (left side / right side) to avoid skewing.

Good job Kurt, this peculiar looking machine is coming together nicely!

Cheers,
Erik

Hello

@ Kevin : I am thinking about a real chain , but I let it in paper

@ Erik : yes it is very difficult , I am looking lorward how it would be

and further …
Now I glue a tab with the reserve ... and extend the bottom

SURPRISE When fitting on the fuselage I noticed that I stuck the front part in the back
Now I cut it off with the razor blade again ...
Of course, the nose fits better in the front again
I cut the extension again
Well, it can sometimes happen

best regards
Kurt

and further …

By cutting off the front part, the tabs have been lost in the back, I replace this with a strip of cardboard ... now prepare the back parts ...
... and gluing ... for the dry process, the attachment is fixed with rubber rings

Yours sincerely
Kurt

Those damn petals!

Can you fill it with plaster, sand smooth and paint them to match?

Got to have another method to make it look good

Isaac

Helo Isaac ,
Since I am a paper purist, I only try my options. I do not like filling, sanding or painting. Best regards to you

I am reasonably satisfied with the result, my fears in advance have not been confirmed
Continue with the rudder ...
... prepared ... glued and pass sample

Yours sincerely
Kurt

I admire your integrity. This is one of those models where you are faced with a choice. If you build it as it was intended by the designer will be absolutely impossible to hide its paper nature, you can only try to do it the better way you can and obtain the right compromise between the "perfect" look and the fact this is actually a paper model.

I agree with you on this matter: with the only exception of transparent pieces I tend to use only paper if I'm doing a paper model. It's obviously a matter of point of view. Fortunately, at least in his building room, a modeller has the right to choose the way he wants to do the things... at least there... out of the room there are wives...

Different matter if I'm dealing with a "multimedia" kit: in this case the most enjoying thing is to imagine what can I use to reproduce any little detail looking around to every common object. But this is a completely different kind of work.

Anyway great work with those petals, Kurt. You did a great job forcing them to take a defined shape. I coundn't have afforded such a nice result.

Ciao Tonino ,

thank you so much I will do my best , for myself

and continue in the Caproni shipyard ...

Now comes color into the game, rudder, part 2 ... first glue a page with the frames, after drying close ...

... and putting the rudder to the test first, fits very well !!

Yours sincerely
Kurt
