Heinkel He-280 1/33 Marek design
Just completed another model of a concept jet ; the Japanese WW2 Kugisho R2Y2 which was a proposed project to convert a propeller driven recon plane into a twin engined bomber that had the same configuration as the German Me-262 WW2 jet fighter.
Here is that build : Kugisho R2Y2 Keiun experimental concept jet So while I am on a roll of early jets and concepts / experimental planes, here is a new build of an actual jet plane that did fly as a prototype for a jet fighter from the onset; the Heinkel He-280. This plane flew ( there were eight of them ) experimentally, but never went into production primarily due to performance shortfalls, jet engine issues ( and yes politics ). It lost the jet fighter competition to the better Me-262. More info on the plane here: Heinkel He 280 - Wikipedia Heinkel He 280 and videos : German HE-280 Jet Aircraft - 250064-05 | Footage Farm Ltd - YouTube Heinkel He 280 - YouTube as well as a radio controled model : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6Up...l=RCMEDIAWORLD The model: This is a Marek design in which there is an original version of the prototype painted all grey and there is also this what if camouflaged version in a sort of operational scheme. I purchased this model from the Ecard web site just before it went down in 2019. It does not appear to be on the revived site currently up, so not sure where you can purchase it now, but I am sure there are sites that Marek participates in that do carry it. More info soon. Isaac

The model
The model is a relatively simple repaint of the all grey colored prototype. It is painted as if it is off the production line destined to an operational Luftwaffe unit with the early splinter camouflage scheme. While the repaint is simple, it is nevertheless eye catching and a worthwhile build.
The kit does offer separate control surfaces, but no separate flaps. I will build it as is without the separate control surfaces. Here are some of the parts and instruction figures. I would say that an average builder would have no problems building this model. Isaac

Fuselage parts
Here are the fuselage parts laid out.
Simple cylinders and cones. I wish he did not use the petal design on the nose. I hate it. Isaac

Isaac,
I'm looking forward to seeing another one of your build threads. This will be a very interesting build. I'm not a big fan of the petal designs either. Gary

Fuselage- nose section
Here is the assembled nose section.
Note : It is imperative to add weights up front or else it will be a tail seater. Isaac

Cockpit section
The cockpit section is an integral structural part of the fuselage and must be done at this point.
here is the framed section and the inner wall. The cockpit itself is simple and unless you plan an open canopy, it will do fine. The designer did add a very helpful feature to align the inner wall to the cockpit, by having positioning homes on the frame ( part 8A ) and the inner wall. insert a straightened paper clip to act as an alignment pin. slip in the wall glue in place using the pin alignment. When dry, remove the pin. glue the outer skin lightly around the canopy opening. now the nose section is attached to the center section. Isaac

Neat and clean work Isaac and indeed, the use of a pin to properly position the cockpit is very smart although the position of the front former has been clearly indicated on the inside skin. Nevertheless that's no guarantee that the rear side will also be aligned well and a pin helps to that end. The nose looks impeccable. Have a nice weekend.
