What about a nice detailed card model of the M.130? Perhaps Murph's or Mr. Gary Pilsworth might tackle this beautiful airplane!

Hi All,

When I've designed paper models, I of course use drawings and photographs, but if possible, I like to have a model as reference, too. The most recent plastic model available of the Martin M-130 is the 1/144 scale Glenco Models Martin M-130 China Clipper, #05505. This model is currently not in the Glenco catalog, but can occasionally be found on eBay and at https://www.oldmodelkits.com/

It appears to be a re-pop of the old Strombecker M-130, # D31-89. The measured scale of these two models comes in about 1/132 rather than the listed 1/144 scale.

And now, for a ritualistic shower.

Score and fold,

Thumb Dog

Yes, the Glencoe model was injected using the old Strombecker moulds. I saw today this model on Ebay at a reasonable price. Are you planning to design it anytime soon?

I'll add it to the list. I've got a couple seaplanes ahead of it though.

Hi All,

And hi, Petestein. Sorry, but I won't be designing the M-130, I'll leave that to the computer guys. (I'm strictly pen and ink).

And, apologies to Glencoe Models as I inadvertently left the "e" off their name.

Now it's off to battle the water coming in the basement. Stupid weather.

Score and fold,

You may or may not enjoy Ace Drummond (played by Dusty King) singing "Give me the open sky, give me a ship to fly" to calm the passengers in a turbulent sky over China at 9:45. I'm afraid Ace Drummon was not of the same quality as "China Clipper" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymbBi8oDKjQ) but at that age, I loved it. Airplanes, adventure, and the mysterious Far East! I couldn't ask for more.

Incidentally, the Ace Drummond comic strip upon which the serial was based was written by Eddie Rickenbacker - I still have my an autographed copy of his Fighting the Flying Circus, which I obtained at about the same time I was watching the adventures of Ace Drummond.

The M-130 - built by my home-town airplane manufacturer, the Glenn L. Martin Company of Baltimore - was the first American flying boat with oceanic range.

I, too, wish someone would design a paper model.

Don
Thanks for the informations. I've just given it a go! Enjoy.

Hi;
For anyone who may happen to be in the area, one of the three Sikorsky VS-44s (Excambrian), is a beautiful restoration sitting in the New England Air Museum at Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks Connecticut.
Regards, rjccjr
