You are right, Mike.
When I did the melting (ten years ago) I did id without food near and everything covered. I made a lot of small slabs, that now I break with a plier. Anyway, you are right.

I'm not sure how many time I have before the light goes down again in Caracas, there has been long and frequent blackouts since Monday.

You can see that the Avensa -100 version is shorter than the black and white -200

I use lead sometimes but prefer stainless nuts for weights.Plenty of them around.

Interesting 727.

This weekend I made the flaps rails and glued only the external ones. Both external rails are of one size, and both internal rails are of another size.

I discovered a mistake in the shape of the my inner wing dark gray surface, so I'll correct it in my parts. Found a mistake in the original paper model, too, because the external main gear doors are "L" shaped and not plain. You can see it in one of the pictures.

To improve my storage capacity, I'm going to glue just the internal side of the wings, and the external half is going to be hold just by a wire shaped like an "U". You can see it in the pictures too. On storage, the tips of the wings will be stored apart, on display, will be joined.

And here are the main landing struts and the engines. The model is progresing slower that I want because the electricity is being cut ("programed blackouts") every day from 7pm to 10pm.
Sorry for the pictures quality, some of them where taken with a tablet in the sunset without electricity.

Ok, I wrote allmos nothing about the advances. The landing gear, was hard because the real plane has very few space to work. At last I made a wire (more or less in triangular shape) sandwitched between two layers of cardboard, one of them being the upper surface reinforcement.
The result gave me enought resistence to allow the ocsional mistake when placing the paper model over hard surfaces, or bumping it with the hand by mistake (it happens)
About the flaps guides, they are not two similar pairs by wing, it was a mistake in a plastic model. All the rest of the plans and drawings show that each guite is of different lenght. So, a small miskate I'll correct when I make the final? next? 727 from
Iberia

Thanks!

The planes is ALMOSSST ready!
Just the wheels and two flaps guides remain!
As you can see, I included the small actuator under the tail scape, the tail skid and the placement of the rear exit.
The tail skid goes down with the landing gear.
As I assemble the model, I'm improving my repaint in the computer, so it will need less touchs next time I do this or another 727 repaint.
In fact, the 727-200 from Iberia that I'm planning to do will have all the experiences I learned with this one
I hate that the pictures seem fine in my computer and are displayed rotated here. Something to do with the tablet, sure :-(
You can see a lot of improvements over the original paper model: the shape of the top lading edge of the tail, the exausts, the tail skid, the flap guides and many others.

I took this free day to update my drawings with all the improvements I have done to the model.
I'm still not sure if I can publish the modified drawings, even as I'm aknoweledging the original maker and he is not active. I'm not planing to sell the model, just distributing it free... if I can.
The phisical model just needs the wheels. The drawings need to rework the wing wheel pits, landing struts and wheels.
Even as I'll probably never assemble this plane again, the work will be used in my Iberia's 727-256adv.
Aannnddd... there is certain 727-27 owned by Servivensa that looks very promising!

And this morning finished the 727. Well, there is a small mistake in the cover of the external engines.
But it's finished!!!
Including wheels, flaps rails, tail skid and all the amenities.
Once my wife returns from Diominican Republic, I'll publish better pictures. Meanwhile, Iberia 727-a56adv, get ready!
I'm heavily tempted to release all the venezuelan 727s, but... where I place them!!!!!!!!

Since my last post, I improved the conection between the inner and outer sides of the wings and retouched with paint the nose.
Now it looks a lot better
