First Jet Engines? England & Germany WWII
Howdy,
Is there a paper model of Frank Whittles Jet engine? Or Von Ohain’s He S-3b that powered the He 178 in 1939? BP |

Hello Bob. Yes, the Orlik model of the Gloster Whittle actually includes a built up model of his engine:
I believe it is a pretty good model. Leif

Fiddler's Green has a post about the 1910 Coanda ducted fan plane, which was almost a jet plane and was about as early as you can get in airplane development.

I wasn´t able to find Von Ohain´s 3-view plans. Only B&W photos. I want to build them too.

Fiddlers Green has both - the Gloster E28 (Gloster-E28 | Aircraft |) and the Heinkel 178 (Heinkel-178 | Aircraft |). Both are well designed simple versions. Alas, the Bell P-59 and the Caproni Campini N1 never quite made it tp the finish line.

I think he wants models of the actual engines.

Von Ohain’s He S-3b engine looks easy enough but Frank Whittles Jet engine would be more of a challenge

While I'm at work, I sometimes wonder if I could pull off a large scale (1/35 or so) model of a modern turbofan engine.
