Airdaves Thunderbolt.
A quick simple build to cheer up a friend,no cockpit or landing gear,he is going to hang it from the ceiling. At his request I scaled it up to fit A3.The Mustang is 1/33.It's true what they say,if you don't use it you lose it,it's so long since I built a plane I made a lot of mistakes.I will reserve comment on the build until I build a proper one at 1/33,i didn't enjoy building big.

What you've for your friend is a nice job. Going by the P-51, the Jug looks like a good design that deserves the full treatment. Hope you do it again with landing gear, etc.

Actually, from here at this viewing distance it looks okay.
Here's a video series which the friend who is in need of cheer might be interested in. I've watched the first 2 so far, quite well done. Quote:
Ya know, that big, it is big enough to put a rubber band in ... wonder how fuselage would take the forces involved compared to stick and tissue construction ...

It would probably take a small electric motor and rc equipment, like those fitted to the cheaper ready made rc models out there. Probably only for indoor use but why not? The Jug in this thread looks marvelous btw.

I await your next P47 build!
I'll agree it looks okay in your photos, but I know how photos don't always tell the truth and its not a model designed for that scale. I am well aware of the problems associated with upscaling a kit like this, having built my own "big" scale (about 1/18) version of a 1/33 Tuskegee Mustang. Upscaling exaggerates even the smallest imperfections. The P47 was originally based on a 1/50 scale Marek design, so it wasn't really designed to be built bigger. Its taken a lot of work to turn it into a 1/33 scale kit but it still may lack certain qualities (for further upscale). Like a suitable internal structure. Thats the biggest problem with the larger Mustang I did. Its weak and crushable in many areas. I was just curious as to how one would look that big.

Thankyou all for your encourageing comments & thankyou Dave for your input,i hope I emphasized enough that any shortcomings were mine & not the models, after my experience with this one,i know my 1/33 build will fall together, allthough I doubt as good as your Mustang.
