Roger copy on the canopy and windscreen, and thanks for the overly-generous but most welcome praise, Gene.
For this build, I am doing it as designed - and with all the flaws in my build, but I intend later to build Gunfighter (Serial 44-73264) and maybe have another go at this one, with hopes that Nobi will have corrected the windscreen for both P-51Ds by then. I'd also like to build Nobi's A-36 and the Jeff Orcutt repaint XP-51, IF I manage to complete this one and finish a couple of other works-in-progress that are hanging fire. Cheers, Don |

Standing By
Nobi -
I don't want to get ahead of your instructions, but if, Possible, I'd like to finish this model by next Friday so I can display it for the Paper Modelers at Army Heritage Days event. The theme is D-Day 1944, and this may be my only actual D-Day-related model. Don |

Sorry to not have any progress on Mustang's build. I have an urgent serious issue what need to solve :-( I suggest that you need to assemble part 12 - 13 before install a wing as picture below. I will update my build after I solve a serous issue

Problem with parts 12
Nobi -
I am having trouble with the radiator. There are two parts labeled 13a+ (see Image 1). I thought the black elliptical part must be the front of the radiator, and so must be a part of the "12" assembly. But when I tried assembling it that way, it didn't work (see Image 2). If you have time to comment, I'd be grateful for advice. Don |

Don, I await the solution to your problems with the radiator , as I encountered the same and could not work out a solution.🤔

Don, if I may wade in here. I've got a copy of this model and on checking I'm not surprised you and gotham have hit a brick wall here. The circumference of both bulkhead 12a and radiator front 13a are more than the inside of part 12 if it's top edges were joined as the instructions indicate. Having said that, I notice there is no join tab for part 12 on the sheets.
In the absence of a response from Nobi, what I would do is make up a join tab for 12, glue it together, then trim down 12a to fit. Radiator front 13a can also be trimmed or, if not too far and out of scale, placed further back inside 12. The reason I would try this is because from what I can see in the instructions, bulkhead 12a is supposed to butt up against bulkhead 7b. Unless my old eyes deceive me, the bottom edge shape of 12a does not match the lower edge shape of 7b. I think if you trim down 12a to match 7b then it stands a much better chance of slotting inside the back of part 12. Hope you can follow the foregoing and I hope it helps. Garry G.

Many thanks, Gotham and Gary. I will try this approach - perhaps soon, although I am currently jumping through my watch band working my on-line forum for my Pacific War Strategy elective and trying to finish up some other models and otherwise get ready for the Paper Modelers at Army Heritage Days event this weekend (really bad, but unavoidable timing).
Worst case, I will get it done next week. Don |
