NOT scruffy from here, Don. I'd say you've got it well under control!

I appreciate the positive comments, although I can see where I can improve the next time I build one of these Mustangs.

I have some issue to solve so my build will extremely slow. Now I work on part 8, 9, 10 and 11.
Part 8, 9 and 10 is a belly part of mustang, glue strip and assemble together. Then place an internal former. Part 11 is build straight forward same with another part. After glue dry, put all together as attached pictures. Even at this early stage of Nobi and Don's builds you can see the beautiful lines of the P-51D shaping up.

I have cut out, shaped, and assembled the rear fuselage – Parts 8, 9, 10, and 11 and associated formers. By no means flawless, but it looks pretty much like a Mustang. I have another 1/48 Nobi Mustang and an A-36 in my stash, so may try again, making use of what I’ve learned with this one. But first, there is still a long way to go on this one –and unlike Garry’s experience, wings are my nemesis.

Wings still are my nemesis Don. If I have trouble with any build it's usually them.
A couple of things I've learned: preshape a bit curvature on the top surface (suitable size dowel or even a section of broom handle for larger models). That way when you fold back the upper surface and gently massage in the leading edge with one hand while lining up the trailing edge with your other hand you've got a fighting chance of getting a more accurate and convincing looking cross section shape. Of course all the foregoing is done holding the wing down on a flat building board. I don't try and glue the trailing edge in one hit. A bit at a time and running finger tip along the trailing edge while holding each corner of the leading edge down with my other hand to (hopefully) avoid warps. I've also learned to NOT glue the wing-tips until the wings are attached to the fuselage- much easier to get that tip incidence right while looking edge-on with the fuselage as a visual reference. An exception is the top wing on a biplane which gets the tips glue before attaching to model. I now have a pretty solid 90% or so success rate with producing warp-free wings and hope the foregoing helps. GG

Continue building on vertical stabilizer. Part 14, 15 and 16. Combine all together to be a vertical stabilizer.
Score on mark what provide in each part. Glue strip into part 14 and 15, put all together after glue dry. I have some technic to easy assemble a vertical stabilizer. I always glue only one side to a fuselage. Align it then glue another side to a fuselage after glue dry. Attach picture will guide you. Today we will work more on tail section. Part 17 18, 19 and 20 combine to be a horizontal stabilizer. Before assemble horizontal stabilizer, there is a internal spar to help an alignment and strength. I cheat a little to use a bamboo toothpick as a spar :-)
Build horizontal stabilizer is straight forward as attach picture. Now our build look like an airplane. More to come More information feel free to visit https://thaipaperwork.wixsite.com/onlinestore #mustang #p51d #cardmodels #papermodels #thaipaperwork
