Murph's Models - Lockheed L-1011 Tristar, 1/109

The latest beta build I have done for Aaron is the Lockheed L-1011 Tristar, Delta Airline, originally at 1/109 but now reduced to 1/194. The present sample measures some 11 inches long and the original model is about 20 inches in length. The reason for the reduction in scale was coincidental. When I got the files, I didn't realize that it was at 200 dpi and so the templates were sent to the printer. So, I would say that dpi is one of the factors that affects the scale of a paper model when printed.

On the whole the graphics is just fabulous but Aaron should look into the incomplete windows on page 3 of the templates. Please make sure that the instructions for the front landing gear is there when releasing the model.

This model is made from glossy photo prints to achieve the overall shiny effect but then again the joints may not be as smooth as expected if using ordinary paper.

Very nice build. I've tried building with glossy photo paper before and know how difficult it is to achieve such good results.

Thank you guys. And, Knife, I would love to know how you make your finished models so glossy without using photo prints? Do you spray them with layers and layers of clear paint? I was told that it all depended on the paper. If it's normal paper, no matter how may layers of clear paint you spray, the surface will not be as smooth as a mirror.

Thank you, Dong-Woo and Dick. The design is great and the model should be available on Aaron's website anytime.

I have bought and vectorised the model, I think it is a great design. Also, I think it's the only proper L-1011 model, because the other models look different.
