Yak-1B and Mig-21bis by NOBI

Here is couple of NOBI models I finished yesterday.

Mig-21bis is in 1:72 scale and Yak got engaged to 1:60 or so.Both are not as easy as they look due to size (particularly Yak) but they are very enjoyable.

I had to change colors on Yak to something resembling real ones a little more.Did I get them right?

Excellent, they look fabulous. The effect of wear on the MIG is typical of the design of NOBI or have you done something to it?

WOW. Both look great. Is that weathering or just where the toner flaked off? It does look like weathering and adds realism to them.

That's unintended effect of laser printing. When parts get rolled some of print flakes of creating "weathering" effect. Most of the times it looks really cool so I keep using that printer.

Both look spot on. That unintentional 'weathering' really looks the part.

As opposed to Nobi, I find the "effect" rather distracting. You can minimize the flaking by printing at a minimum toner setting if your printer allows, and then spraying the print with a clear matt/satin/gloss coating as appropriate. If you care to try this, give Americana brand spray a shot (pun intended).

I meant distracting from the beauty of the build.

Not too far off from what an old outdoor display Mig-21 would look like now... heavily weathered!!! Honestly I feel like Nobi and Zarkov are neck to neck in terms of design skills... I tend to lean towards Nobi because his designs are just as gorgeous as Zarkov but a tad more simple to build and as recently demonstrated Nobi can really make killer interiors for his kits if he wants to.

Nice work on the Yak and the Mig. Great work!

Your skills are better than you give credit to yourself!
